My latest words: Interview with Akosua Afriyie-Kumi about creating a global fashion brand and the art of originality

High on my list of Best Things About Being A Freelance Writer are the many opportunities I get to interview some pretty incredible people. I’d go so far as to say that they’re right up there with being able to work from home, in my pyjamas if I want to… although I generally only do that when I’m not interviewing face to face.

Anyway, I’m thrilled to have had the chance to write my latest article about the awesomely talented Akosua Afriyie-Kumi and her inspirational business A A K S, which has introduced handbag-lovers the world over to the traditional craftsmanship of a group of artisan weavers in northern Ghana.

From London fashion student to owner of a luxury accessories brand that has stimulated sustainable jobs in Africa, Akosua’s story so far is remarkable. It also provides plenty of insights into the art of innovation and what really sets original-thinkers apart from other creative types.

I’ll post a link to the article when it’s published. In the meantime, why not get to know
A A K S for yourself, on Facebook  Pinterest  Twitter or Instagram?
